Atric Innovations is hiring a Quantity Surveyor Engineer
Overview:
As a Quantity Surveyor Engineer at our contracting (finishing) company, you will play a vital role in managing costs and ensuring the financial success of our projects. You will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of materials, labor, and equipment needed for construction projects, as well as monitoring project budgets, negotiating with suppliers, and providing financial advice to project managers and clients. Additionally, you will be actively involved in developing Bill of Quantities (BOQs) for clients, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project requirements. Your attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders will contribute to the successful completion of our projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation: - Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and overhead costs.
- Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine the scope of work and required resources.
- Utilize cost databases, historical data, and industry benchmarks to ensure accurate cost estimates.
2. Bill of Quantities (BOQ) Development:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to develop detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQs) for clients.
- Identify and quantify all materials, labour, and resources required for construction projects, ensuring alignment with project specifications and client expectations.
- Utilize industry standards and best practices to develop comprehensive BOQs that serve as a basis for project pricing and procurement activities.
3. Budget Management:
- Monitor project budgets throughout the construction process to ensure costs remain within approved limits.
- Identify potential cost overruns or deviations from the budget and propose corrective actions.
- Prepare and maintain cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and other financial documentation.
4. Procurement and Negotiation:
- Source and procure materials, subcontractor services, and equipment required for construction projects.
- Negotiate favorable terms and prices with suppliers and subcontractors to maximize cost savings.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
5. Contract Administration:
- Review and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Administer contract terms and conditions, including payment schedules, change orders, and claims management.
- Monitor contract performance and resolve disputes or discrepancies as they arise.
6. Value Engineering:
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project teams to propose alternative materials, construction methods, or design changes that reduce costs without sacrificing quality.
7. Client Relations:
- Provide timely and accurate cost advice to clients and stakeholders, addressing any queries or concerns related to project finances.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor Engineer in the construction (finishing) industry, with a focus on finishing works.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software, project management tools, and MS Office suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Professional certifications (e.g., MRICS, PQS) are desirable but not required.
